Book Review: The Magic of Menopause: A Holistic Guide to Get Your Happy Back! by Lorraine Miano.
Lorraine Miano is an Integrative Certified Health Coach who is especially passionate about working with women in all phases of menopause who have weight, metabolism and aging concerns so they can have more energy, less stress and feel comfortable in their own skin.
When she is not teaching, she is spending time with her husband, her three adult children and her precious grandchildren…which is where this book became real for Lorraine. Upon discovering she was about to become a grandmother, just as menopause and a hysterectomy were at the forefront of her life, Lorraine decided that she needed to turn her health lifestyle up a notch. She was not going to be a has-been she was determined to be a will-be!
I absolutely loved this book! It’s easy to get through, being only 150 pages long, however, it packs a lot in without the ‘menopause waffle’ that is evident in other more ‘text’ like books.
Lorraine takes the reader through a wholly holistic approach to menopause covering stress and anxiety, hot flushes and other symptoms, life after hysterectomy, sex and sleep, detoxing, the life of baby boomers. There are also recipes and areas after each chapter where you can start your own journalling.
In essence, Lorraine takes you through the steps to get your life and hormones in balance in order for you to discover your own ‘magic’ and get your happy back
What I really loved was the way Lorraine’s grandmothers and friends were interwoven throughout the book – making it a pleasure to read.
Lorraine dedicates her book to her two grandmother’s Marion and Caterina and how we can learn by example or not as the case may be.
